Light Your Candle
The tradition to light candles in churches is as old as the Christian faith. The candlelight symbolizes Christ and the holy illumination of the spirit of truth. A candle lit in front of an icon is a symbol of prayer and a sign of spiritual thoughts devoted to God. Wax drops falling from the ignited candles are like tears of Christ — they symbolize the person’s absolution from sins, purification of body and mind. In hard times Christians go to church and light candles to wash away their medical and spiritual problems. According to tradition, from olden times the faithful pray not only for themselves, but also for all their friends and family.
Since 325 AD, for over 1500 years Christians have put candles and prayed in the Temple of the Holy Sepulcher. We want to provide an opportunity for everyone to address God and put a candle today in this sacred place, even if you live thousands of miles away from the Holy Land. We can help you to put a candle for you and yours.
Recently several online services of the so-called “virtual cemeteries” were launched on the Internet, offering to light a “virtual candle” for a fee. Many people fell for this impure enticement, which has absolutely nothing to do with the Christian tradition.
Volunteers who participate in our project are true believers who understand the importance of carrying out vows. After your online order is processed, a person of our staff will go to church to put a candle in the place of your choice. A photograph of your candle will be made and sent to your email address.
Our project does not charge any fees for putting candles or for delivery of written prayer letters to the Temple of the Holy Sepulcher. Benefactors may set and edit donation amounts in their sole discretion. Inside the church we exchange the received contributions for candles. The same procedure is done for all the Christians who cannot afford even the smallest donation.
Do not hesitate to place your order even if you are in strained circumstances – it will be processed in any case. Our mission and duty to God is to help fellow-Christians get access to the main holy sites of our religion.
This is our most powerful prayer to the Lord.
